With work, I get the opportunity to travel a lot. Every hotel I stay at, I be sure to try out their fitness center, a hotel gym can tell you a lot about the property. Not surprisingly, when I stayed at the Disney Coronado Springs, they didn’t disappoint.
This gym had it all. Treadmills, bikes, free weights, oh my!
Most hotel gyms don’t even have free weights, they usually just have a piece of cardio equipment and a 12in TV, but this place was decked out like an LA Fitness Health Club. It was probably close to 1200 square feet, full of Life Fitness branded machines, free weights, balance balls, smith machines, water fountains, towels and everything else you could want in a fitness center. On top of that, it had a great poolside view to keep you motivated to stay up to date with a beach bod.
I wanted to really take advantage of this place so I showed up to this gym almost every morning for the whole week I was there, hoping the whole place would be mine for over an hour. And at 5am, it was! One day in particular I wanted to create a video of a quick Chest and Shoulder workout I did so you can see the full extend of this great facility. Click to see the full video here.
Like most of my workouts, I warm up with a little cardio. However, I hate doing it so when I’m at a hotel I’ll just jog from my room to the gym and maybe a few laps to get my heart rate up in order to break a little sweat. Getting your heart rate elevated will allow you to burn more calories during each training sessions. Here’s a quick look at the workout you’ll see in my video…
CHEST & SHOULDERS
Incline Smith Chest Press | 4 sets 8-12 reps
Shoulder Press | 4 sets 8-12 reps
Cable Crossover Flies | 4 sets 8-12 reps
DB Lat Raises & Front Raises | 4 sets 8-12 reps
Ab Workout | 4 sets 20-25 reps
Overall, the resort itself is fantastic and the customer service is great. Most importantly, thank you Disney for putting in the extra money for this gym, which I think every hotel should do.
So if you plan to visit the Coronado Springs in Orlando, be sure to check out their gym and do this workout. I hope you guys get a chance to watch the video and I love hearing feedback, leave a comment and tell me what you think. Where is the best hotel gym that you found?
