Yes, brussel sprouts are the bomb! It’s a very weird statement, I know.
I’m telling you though, if you haven’t tried really well prepared brussel sprouts dipped in some epic dressing, you’re not living my friend.
They don’t just taste good taste good but you might be shocked to know that these little guys are packed full of nutrients and being vegetarian, I look for every reason I can to intake my nutrients 😉
According to a lot of studies including one from healthline.com, brussels sprouts are rich in antioxidants, high in fiber and Vitamin K plus they could help in reducing inflammation.
So if we can make these stinky things taste good, that’s a WIN right?
Welp, there’s a lot of great recipes out there but I don’t like to get fancy so I’ll just give you a couple steps to cook these guys crispy while being lightly seasoned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bag of Brussel Sprouts (wash before doing anything)
- Salt, Pepper, Red Pepper, Garlic Powder (seasoning you like)
- Avocado Oil (or another oil of your choice)
- Coconut Aminos Seasoning Sauce (optional)
TOTAL COOK TIME (including prep): 30-45 minutes
First things first, chop up each one as you see fit. Some restaurants only cut them in half but I like to cut them tiny so they end up crispy, like home fries.
Before you do anything else, preheat the oven to 400-450 degrees (depending on the strength of your oven).
Next, toss the chopped up pieces in a large bowl (add salt, pepper, and other seasoning) along with a few punches of avocado oil. Mix up everything is seasoned evenly.
Now lay out cooking paper or aluminum foil onto a flat cooking pan and spray with non-stick cooking spray, I like to use coconut oil spray.
The next part is optional, but I normally sprinkle some coconut amino seasoning sauce all over the sprouts, I get this bottle from Trader Joe’s. It’s kind of like soy sauce but it’s soy free and wheat free, it just adds a little extra taste.
Bake in the oven for 25-40 min, take out once they look crispy enough but be careful not to burn them! Pour your favorite dressing (maybe a vegan ranch?) into a small bowl and dip just like you would home fries in ketchup.
These are great healthy snacks but can be seasoned for any occasion. Enjoy friends!
